Ham Radio operator-highlights  Washington Tyne Wear

Ham Radio operator-highlights Washington Tyne Wear. I used to walk through here on my way to Usworth School in 1960,s it has changed over the years and no longer has the rose garden-it was removed for vegetables to be grown by a local children's group.

It's usually around Easter time when the bowling green is prepared for the bowling season, groups from other places around Sunderland and the Northeast hold matches with each other.

The park I understand was paid for from deductions taken from Miners wages, miners who worked at Usworth Colliery started this venture around 1920,s

This link will take you to Durham County Miners museum where you can find out more about Usworth Pit.
